Container Yard Manager Murdered by Sacked Worker and Associates

A former contract worker and his associates brutally attacked and murdered a private container yard manager at Velli Vayal Chavadi near Manali New Town in the early hours of Friday. All suspects are currently absconding.  Police identified the victim as Sai Prashanth, 45, from Kudur, Andhra Pradesh, who worked as a manager overseeing daily loading and unloading operations at the yard.

The issue arose on February 5 when Balaji, 25, a contract worker from Andhra Pradesh, left work before his scheduled time, causing delays in container loading. The next morning, when Prashanth confronted Balaji about his unauthorized absence, an argument ensued, leading to Balaji’s termination.

Seeking revenge, Balaji returned around 1 a.m. the following night with seven accomplices, including Shyam, 28, Sai Sarathy, 32, Mukilkan, 30, and four others, arriving on motorcycles. Despite night security guard Ponraj questioning their presence, they forced their way onto the premises, demanding to meet Prashanth.

They barged into Prashanth’s room and viciously attacked him with knives and iron rods. Prashanth sustained severe head injuries and succumbed before his colleagues could rush him to a hospital. The assailants fled the scene on motorcycles.

Upon receiving information, Manali New Town police arrived at the spot and transported Prashanth to the Government Stanley Hospital, where he was declared ”brought dead”. His body was sent for post-mortem examination.

Authorities have formed a special team to track down and apprehend the suspects. Investigations are ongoing to ensure justice is served.
