Delhi Double Murder: CCTV Footage Helps Police Nab Juvenile Suspects in 13 Hours
In a shocking case of crime in Delhi, two seemingly unrelated murders that took place 6 km apart were unexpectedly linked when police examined CCTV footage. The investigation revealed that a group of five juveniles was responsible for both killings, leading to a swift manhunt that ended with their arrest within 13 hours.
The first incident was reported in New Ashok Nagar at around 3 am when police received a call about an accident near the Jal Board Treatment Plant. However, upon reaching the scene, officers discovered a man who had been stabbed multiple times. He was bleeding profusely and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Senior police officer Abhishek Dhania later stated that a significant amount of blood was found on the main road near the treatment plant, raising immediate suspicions of foul play.
As police investigated the first murder, another distress call came in around noon from the Ghazipur area, where a man was found dead behind a liquor shop in the Paper Market locality. The victim, identified as 49-year-old Ramesh, a resident of Ghazipur’s Kumhar Basti, had suffered deep stab wounds on his thigh.
CCTV footage from the vicinity revealed a disturbing scene in which four young men were caught attacking Ramesh. Further analysis linked these suspects to the New Ashok Nagar murder. With the help of forensic analysis and video surveillance, four police teams used Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras to track the movements of the suspects.
According to officials, the juveniles had initially gathered at the liquor shop in Ghazipur to celebrate a birthday. However, a heated argument broke out, leading them to stab Ramesh in a drunken rage. Later, the same group moved towards New Ashok Nagar, where they attempted to rob a passerby near Dallupura Road. When the victim resisted, they brutally stabbed him and fled.
The police acted swiftly, identifying and apprehending all the juveniles by 4 pm the same day. This case highlights the role of advanced surveillance technology in crime detection and the growing concerns over juvenile involvement in violent crimes.
