Dense Fog in Delhi-NCR Disrupts Flights and Trains, Visibility Drops to Zero

A dense fog blanketed Delhi-NCR this morning, reducing visibility to zero and causing significant disruptions to air, rail, and road travel. At least 184 flights were delayed, and seven were canceled due to the weather conditions. Additionally, 26 trains bound for Delhi are running late, and schedules for six trains have been altered.

Delhi Airport issued alerts urging passengers to stay updated on their flight status. Flights that are not CAT III compliant are more likely to face delays. Budget airlines IndiGo and SpiceJet also advised passengers to monitor their flight information due to low visibility. Despite the adverse conditions, landings and take-offs continued for compliant flights.

Road traffic in Delhi and nearby cities also slowed considerably, causing inconvenience for commuters. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a morning temperature of 9°C and forecasted dense fog in the evening and night, with chances of light rain later in the day.

Air quality in the national capital remained in the "poor" category, compounding the challenges posed by the foggy conditions. Delhiites are advised to exercise caution while traveling, particularly in areas with reduced visibility.

The fog has disrupted not only travel but also daily life, with the IMD’s prediction of continued foggy conditions raising concerns about further delays and cancellations. Passengers are encouraged to check with airlines and train services for real-time updates.
