Engineering Student and Two Accomplices Arrested for Murder of 35-Year-Old Woman

A shocking murder case has emerged in Tamil Nadu, where a 22-year-old engineering student, in collusion with his two girlfriends, allegedly poisoned and murdered a 35-year-old woman by throwing her into a 30-foot-deep gorge on Yercaud Road.

The victim, M Loganayagi alias Albiya, from Thuraiyur in Tiruchy district, had been in a relationship with Abdul Abeez, a fourth-year engineering student at a private college in Perambalur. They met online and developed a relationship, with Abeez allegedly convincing Loganayagi to have a physical relationship under the pretence of marriage. She later converted to Islam and changed her name to Albiya.

However, Abeez had no intention of marrying her. Instead, he formed relationships with two other women—S Thaviya Sulthana (22), an IT professional from Avadi, and R Monisha (21), a nursing student at Villupuram Government Medical College Hospital. Together, they conspired to eliminate Loganayagi.

Loganayagi, who worked at a competitive exam coaching center in Salem and lived in a ladies' hostel, went missing on March 1 after leaving her hostel. When she failed to return or report to work, the hostel warden lodged a missing person complaint with the Salem City Police.

Police traced her last call and interrogated Abeez, leading to the shocking revelation of her murder. Investigations uncovered that Abeez and his accomplices lured Loganayagi to Yercaud Hill under the pretext of offering painkillers for an injury. Once there, Monisha allegedly injected her with poison, causing her to lose consciousness. The trio then threw her into the gorge.

Abeez had reportedly been avoiding Loganayagi after getting involved with Thaviya and Monisha. When she self-harmed and insisted on marriage, the trio planned her murder. Following Abeez’s confession, police recovered Loganayagi’s body on March 6. The Yercaud Police have arrested Abeez, Thaviya, and Monisha, and further investigations are ongoing.
