Escalation at LoC: Pakistan Army Violates Ceasefire, Security Forces Foil Infiltration Attempts

The Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire agreement on Tuesday by firing at Indian positions across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati (KG) Sector, Poonch. In response, the troops of the Nangi Tekri Battalion, under the Krishna Ghati Brigade of the Indian Army, retaliated strongly. Further updates on casualties and damages are awaited.

Meanwhile, security forces have intensified search and cordon operations in the Panjtirthi area of Kathua following a recent exchange of fire with terrorists. Acting on intelligence inputs, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched multiple surveillance and ambush operations. Suspicious movement was detected on the night of March 31, triggering a fresh encounter. As a result, security forces initiated a search-and-destroy mission early on April 1, and operations are still ongoing with heightened vigilance in the area.

The Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army confirmed on X that an infiltration attempt by the Pakistan Army in the Krishna Ghati region was successfully foiled. Pakistani troops and infiltrators opened fire, prompting strong retaliation from the Indian Army. Sources indicate that four to five Pakistani infiltrators were reportedly killed, though official confirmation is still pending. Intermittent firing continues in the region, with Indian troops maintaining full deployment in the Krishna Ghati area.

In another development, a fresh encounter erupted between terrorists and security forces in Kathua’s Panjtirthi area on Monday night. A police team came under fire from terrorists during a combing operation in the Ramkote belt, leading to a prolonged standoff. Reports suggest that three terrorists are currently trapped, and operations are ongoing to neutralize them. This marks the third such encounter in the past eight days.

Security forces have laid a night cordon to prevent the terrorists from escaping. Aerial surveillance and sniffer dogs have been deployed to track them down. The search operation extends across forested areas in Rui, Juthana, Ghati, Sanyal in Rajbagh, and parts of Billawar. On Sunday night, three armed men dressed in black robes reportedly entered a house in Rui village, requesting water from an elderly woman, further raising security concerns.

With continuous ceasefire violations and increasing terrorist encounters, security forces remain on high alert, ensuring that infiltration attempts and militant activities are thwarted effectively.
