Gautam Adani’s Son’s Simple Wedding and a ₹10,000 Crore Gift to Society
True to his word, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, ensured his son Jeet Adani’s wedding remained a simple and traditional affair. Despite widespread speculation that the wedding would be an extravagant event, the billionaire industrialist kept it intimate and marked the occasion with an extraordinary philanthropic gesture—a donation of ₹10,000 crore towards various social causes.
Sources close to Adani stated that his philanthropic commitment is driven by his social philosophy: "Seva sadhana hai, seva prarthna hai aur seva parmatma hai" (Service is devotion, service is prayer, and service is divinity). The substantial donation will be directed towards infrastructure projects in healthcare, education, and skill development. These initiatives aim to provide access to affordable world-class hospitals, medical colleges, K-12 schools, and advanced skill academies that ensure employability for all sections of society.
Jeet Adani married Diva, daughter of diamond trader Jaimin Shah, in a modest ceremony at the Belvedere Club in Ahmedabad's Adani Shantigram township on Friday. The wedding followed traditional Gujarati rituals and was attended only by close family members and friends. Notably absent were politicians, business tycoons, bureaucrats, film stars, and other celebrities, emphasizing the family's commitment to a simple, meaningful celebration.
Gautam Adani took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his happiness and referred to his daughter-in-law as “daughter Diva” in a heartwarming post. His public message reflected the family’s values and their focus on deeper social impact rather than grandeur.
In an additional act of generosity, just two days before the wedding, Adani announced ‘Mangal Seva’, a program dedicated to supporting newly married women with disabilities. As part of this initiative, 500 women with disabilities will receive financial assistance of ₹10 lakh each every year. To mark the launch, Jeet Adani personally met 21 newly married differently-abled women and their husbands.
Jeet Adani, an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, currently serves as Director at Adani Airports, overseeing operations at six international airports and the development of a seventh in Navi Mumbai.
During his visit to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on January 21, when asked if his son's wedding would be a grand spectacle, Gautam Adani had firmly stated, “Definitely not. We are like common people. Jeet came here to take Ma Ganga’s blessings. His marriage will happen in a simple and traditional way.”
Through this remarkable act of "Seva Over Self," Gautam Adani has redefined the essence of celebrating personal milestones. His decision to prioritize social welfare over luxury sets an inspiring example, proving that true greatness lies in giving back to society.
