IPL 2025: Start Date, Schedule Updates, and Key Venues Revealed

The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to commence on March 21, 2025, at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens, which will also host the final on May 25, 2025. This marks a slight delay from the earlier communicated schedule of March 14 to May 25. According to reports, the delay is attributed to broadcasters seeking a later start due to the Champions Trophy final on March 9, although broadcasting sources have denied making such a request.

Eden Gardens, home to the 2024 IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will host both the opening game and the final, maintaining the tradition of awarding key matches to the defending champions’ home venue. The SunRisers Hyderabad, last year’s runners-up, will host two playoff matches.

The BCCI is expected to officially release the final schedule soon following the election of new office-bearers, including Devjit Saikia as secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as treasurer. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla confirmed that the Champions Trophy squad will be announced by January 17 or 18, and venues for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) have also been finalized, with an announcement forthcoming.

With fans eagerly awaiting the detailed schedule, the IPL 2025 promises to deliver another thrilling season of cricket.
