Mumbai Horror: 17-Year-Old Girl Set on Fire by 30-Year-Old Man After Mother’s Warning

A 17-year-old girl from Mumbai is battling for her life after a 30-year-old man allegedly set her on fire when her mother warned him to stay away. The shocking incident took place in Marol, Andheri (East), where the accused poured petrol on the victim and set her ablaze. She is currently undergoing treatment for 60% burn injuries at Dr. RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital.

According to reports, the accused had lived in the same neighbourhood for over a year and had been acquainted with the girl. Six months ago, the victim’s mother confronted the man after learning about their association and warned him against meeting her. However, on the night of March 2, tragedy struck when the girl’s mother received a call informing her that her daughter had been attacked.

The girl sustained severe burns on her face, neck, back, stomach, hands, legs, and private areas. Due to the severity of her injuries, she is barely able to speak. The accused also suffered burns on his hands, back, and private parts and is being treated at the same hospital under police watch.

A case has been registered under sections 124(1) (causing grievous hurt using acid or other means) and 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police have deployed a security guard outside the accused’s hospital ward.

This incident has sparked outrage, raising concerns over women’s safety in urban areas. Authorities are conducting further investigations to ensure justice for the victim.
