Retired Army Jawan Confesses to Wife's Murder, Police Seek Evidence

In a chilling crime that has left Hyderabad shaken, Gurumurthy, a retired Army jawan, confessed to killing his wife, P Venkata Madhavi, dismembering her body, and disposing of the remains across various locations, including Jillelaguda Lake. Madhavi, a 35-year-old resident of Meerpet, was reported missing on January 18 by her mother after a heated argument with her husband two days earlier. Initially, Gurumurthy joined her family in filing a missing person report but later admitted to the gruesome act during police interrogation.

According to his confession, the crime occurred in a fit of rage after Madhavi expressed her desire to visit her native village for Sankranti festivities. Gurumurthy claimed to have killed her by hitting her against a wall, dismembered her body using kitchen knives, and boiled the parts in a pressure cooker to destroy evidence. He also allegedly ground her bones into powder and scattered the remains in different locations.

Despite his confession, the Hyderabad Police have yet to recover any body parts, leaving the investigation at a critical juncture. The police have seized tools such as a pressure cooker, water heater, and knives, suspected to have been used in the crime. Forensic and technical analyses are underway to substantiate Gurumurthy's claims, but no formal arrest has been made due to the lack of concrete evidence.

Investigators believe frequent marital disputes had strained the couple's 13-year marriage. During the incident, the couple's two children were at Gurumurthy’s sister’s home, which police suspect he used to mask his actions. The case has shocked residents, with authorities working to piece together the grim details of Madhavi's disappearance and alleged murder.
