The celebrations began with Governor Ravi being welcomed by Chief Minister Stalin, who presented him with a bouquet. Following protocol, the Chief Minister introduced senior officers of the armed forces and the state police to the Governor. An Indian Air Force helicopter showered flower petals as the Governor unfurled the tricolour, while the national anthem filled the air. The ceremonial march past featured contingents from the armed forces, Tamil Nadu Police, and the Coast Guard, highlighting the state's commitment to security and discipline.

Cultural performances were a key highlight of the event, with school and college students showcasing Tamil Nadu's rich heritage. Traditional dances like Jikkattam, Karagattam, and Kavadiyattam celebrated the cultural vibrancy of the state, while performances from other states, including Assam’s Bordoi Sikala, Telangana’s Mathuri dance, and Jammu and Kashmir’s Rouf dance, symbolized India’s unity in diversity. The theme song, ‘Thamizhe Vazhga, Thaye Vazhga’ (Long live Tamil language, long live mother Tamil), added a local touch to the festivities.

Chief Minister Stalin presented awards under various categories. Leading Fireman K. Vetrivel received the Anna Medal for Gallantry for rescuing three individuals from drowning. S.A. Ameer Amsa was honored with the Kottai Ameer Communal Harmony Award for his selfless service in assisting with over 1,000 burials. The best police station awards went to Madurai City (first place), Tiruppur City (second), and Tiruvallur district (third). Governor Ravi concluded the day by paying homage to war heroes at the War Memorial in Chennai. The celebrations, blending tradition, patriotism, and modernity, served as a reminder of the shared responsibility to uphold the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. As Chief Minister Stalin remarked in his Republic Day message, the day’s essence lies in fostering a progressive, inclusive, and compassionate India.
