Thalapathy Vijay's TVK Gears Up for 2026 Tamil Nadu Elections on Party's First Anniversary

Actor-turned-politician Vijay, the chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), marked the party's first anniversary with a rallying call for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Addressing party workers at TVK’s headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai, Vijay emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement and welfare activities to build a strong political foundation.

He reflected on historic political shifts in Tamil Nadu, citing the landmark elections of 1967 and 1977 as inspirations for TVK’s journey. Vijay urged his supporters to channel their energy into mobilizing public support and proving the strength of "people power" in the upcoming elections.

The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will witness a fierce contest, with DMK chief and current Chief Minister MK Stalin seeking a second term following consecutive electoral victories in the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections and the 2021 state elections. Meanwhile, AIADMK struggles to regain lost ground after failing to secure a single seat in the 2024 general elections.

Vijay acknowledged the challenges and criticisms TVK has faced since its inception but reaffirmed his commitment to the party's ideology and long-term vision. Having gained immense popularity through his film career, he now aims to translate his mass appeal into political success.

TVK's first anniversary marks the beginning of an intense political journey as Vijay positions himself as a key player in Tamil Nadu's dynamic political landscape. With strong public engagement and strategic groundwork, the party hopes to challenge the existing political order and create a new wave of leadership in the 2026 elections.
