Ajith Kumar’s latest action-thriller Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, has taken the global box office by storm, collecting an impressive ₹171.50 crore within just five days of its release on April 10, 2025. The film has swiftly become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of the year, surpassing the lifetime earnings of Dragon (₹150.52 crore), and is now inching closer to the coveted ₹200 crore milestone.
The film, starring Ajith Kumar, Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Das, and Prasanna, has captivated audiences with its gripping narrative and action sequences. With music composed by GV Prakash Kumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Good Bad Ugly was released in five languages—Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam—expanding its reach across India and abroad.
According to Sacnilk, the film has grossed ₹119.35 crore in India and ₹52.15 crore overseas, totalling ₹171.50 crore globally. It also recorded ₹101.30 crore net collection domestically in just five days, with approximately ₹84 crore coming from Tamil Nadu alone. Its success has not only revitalized Ajith’s box office presence after a brief hiatus but also showcased the increasing global appeal of Tamil cinema.
The film's teaser also made headlines by racking up over 32 million views within 24 hours, further highlighting the immense anticipation surrounding the release. Marketed as a "sambavam" (event), Good Bad Ugly has lived up to the hype with audiences praising Ajith's powerful performance, its emotionally driven storyline, and the nods to pop-culture icons such as John Wick and The Professor from Money Heist. The plot follows Ajith’s character AK, also known as Red Dragon, a gangster trying to redeem himself for the sake of his wife Ramya (Trisha) and their son. However, circumstances force him to embrace his dark side once again to protect his family.
Currently trailing behind only a few major Indian releases like Sikandar (₹183 crore), Game Changer (₹186.25 crore), Sankranthiki Vasthunam (₹255.2 crore), L2 Empuraan (₹264 crore), and Chhaava (₹806.45 crore), Good Bad Ugly remains one of the top-performing films of 2025. As it continues its strong theatrical run, all eyes are on when it will officially cross the ₹200 crore mark, cementing Ajith’s dominance in Indian cinema.
